C., FRIDAY, AUG. 28, 1942 RESULTS OF POLK SUPERIOR COURT A glance at the records of the Polk County Superior Court which closed Wednesday noon in Colum with Judge J. H. Clement ^aiisiding, shows- that the court made rapid progress in disposing of 31 cases this week. The following cases came before the court: _ Bert L. Patterson, Paul Parker convicted for driving drunk were fined $50 and costs; Elliott Russell $25 and — costs for speeding; Raleigh Ross, 4 months for reck less driving. The following for violation of the prohibition law manufacturing whiskey, were giv en six months suspended sentence upon payment of $50 and costs: Ted Lockhart, Woodrow Morris, Jade Harris, Norman Ponder, Woodrow Waters.. Fisher Bryant and Burgin Wright received 6 months on road for violating pro hibition law; Wesley McKeithen •"'as fined $25 and costs for trans acting liquor. John T. Stroud tRto Raleigh Ross got 4 months for same oifense. Ruff Forest for possessing illegal liquor. Theodore Parris, for breaking and entering got 12 months on road; Woodrow Cheek for breaking and larceny, 12 to 15 years. Wal lace Sanders, breaking and lar ceny of auto tires, two years on road; Clarence McElwee for re ceiving stolen goods, one year on road; Clarence Ingall for break ing and entering and larceny, two years in prison. Frank Ballew, petty larceny, prayer for judg ment continued for two years. _Continued on Back Page_ Weather on Thursday: high 77, low 50. . . . Rev. C. W. Dennis of Asheville is the new pastor of the Mill Spring Methodist church. He has a wife and a daughter, Martha, age five. He was educated at High Point col lege and the University of North Carolina. Hester who is also chairman of the Draft Board naturally feels grateful to the publ’c for rallying to the .call of the government. This is ev erybody’s wan and each 25 cent stamp bought will help win it. Read the statement about the War Bond sales in the Tryon Bank ad in this issue of the Bulletin and see the remarkable strides made. It doesn’t tell all. The women at Red Cross rooms making clothes, writing letters of cheer, sending gifts, rationing board, blackouts, , nutrition, nursing, first aid and the numerous other branches of civilian defense show that the county wants VICTORY.
